Yes, I'm Back

Actually, I never left - just a lot happening in my life since Hubby died on 02/26/08 (hard to believe almost 2 years ago).
Well, my name is Mikki and I'm a strong woman although I'm still trying to catch my breath from Hubby's death, losing my job, looking for a new job, finally getting a new job, and now dealing with the death of my dear cousin, Alan (he died on Christmas Day).

Although I'm not an atheist, I have many, many friends who don't hold to any faith and I love them very much. We are all iin the same boat, just different cabins and I care very much what happens to people (especially widows like myself).

I have two rescued greyhounds, Zephyr & Finley (aka Frick & Frack). They make me laugh and provide wonderful support and companionship.

If I can be a friend to anyone please, please let me know.

Hey Mikki- VERY great to see you here. It's been a long road for you, and we know how hard that can be- you just picked yourself up enough to get life going again and then you get another loss to deal with. Seems like that's happening a lot to people.
You reminded me that some folks get that speech from 'well wishers' of "You are only given what you can handle", and that's such bullshit. I can think of no person who is glad to have more tragedy after dealing with the last one...because no matter how strong we are, handling it all the time isn't easy. I also wanted to commend you- finding work- amazingly good news. It seems like everyone I know is being laid off, or has been out of work for longer than unemployment can assist.
We just got our first dog together- a chihuahua puppy- and he's the joy of our lives. I know how much your dogs mean to you- and they're terrific when things in life seem out of control- for some reason, they wag when they see us- and the world disappears for a bit. Congrats to you for them, too.

Cathe, I miss you so much. I'm glad to be able to post a bit now. I'm just glad I'm conscious and vertical instead of in a coma. :D Congrats on your little doggie!

Yes, it's great to be working after 8 1/2 months of unemployment. Now that I have a job I have to do the job and commute 70 miles roundtrip to do it. I think of survival and keep going. I plan on buying 2 of your books ASAP and supporting you work. I'm so proud of you and hope that one day I can come visit in Vegas and see you again.

All my best to you and any friends I make here. Mik
