Death of Child
It isn't easy, no matter if the child never had the chance to be born, or if he was over 70.. when we outlive our kids, it can be the worst feeling we can go through. This forum is for parents, step-parents, and divorced parents who are dealing with losing their children by death

When It's Suicide
Godless Grief has no chapter on suicide. The reason? Suicide deserves an entire book. Cathe Jones' own step brother jumped off a building in 1988, at the age of 18, after years of episodes that were not addressed by family and professionals. This forum is for those left behind, or those who have survived.

Pets in The Adult Life
Even as adults we mourn the loss of our pets. For some of us, pets represent far more than just a critter-- often taking the place of our companion, or filling an emotional void.

Tornadoes, Hurricanes, And Other Natural Disasters
New Orleans and the Gulf states, Florida and the South East each had the floods of the hurricane seasons. The Northeast, the Ohio Valley, Chicago and the Midwest battled snows. Earthquakes, the bee diseases, the crop failures... these are just in the continental United States, but Natural disasters affect millions of lives every day. Serendipity decides all, and yet, we fight on.

Divorce, Relationships
Friendships die, and can be as painful as divorce. Divorce is as painful on children as it is on those breaking up. Sometimes, there's more than one friendship gone, and that can be devastating.

Losing A Parent
Whether through divorce, or having your mom or dad die, or having a foster parent get reassigned, or even getting adopted to a new family, it can be pretty hard on a kid. And, it's hard if you're five, or fifteen, or even two years old.

When a Pet Dies or Gets Lost
Sometimes a dog is a kid's best friend, too. That's true for a lizard, a rat, a hamster, a goldfish, and even a tarantula. It's hard when a car hits a cat, and when a pet bird flies away. Sometimes when a parent moves, we lose our pet, too. That's like getting punched in the stomach twice.

I Can't....
Do other kid pick on you because you're not skinny, or because you're too skinny? Do they laugh because you have a form of dwarfism? Or because you've got a disability? Are kids mean to you because you're different? Do you wish you could do somethings, but you can't, like skateboard, or swim? Talk about it here.

Child Issues
What changes and grief does a family face with adoption? When a miscarriage or fertility becomes a problem within a marriage, can the couple survive? If a child has physical or mental disabilities, what can a parent do to get by each day? Grief takes on a variety of forms, and parenting means getting through almost daily issues of grieving.

Working Parents, or SAH-Parents
As many families in today's society rely on two incomes to survive, children grieve the loss of time with their parents. Many are now struggling, but still try to stay at home, with in home schooling, or at least offering pre-school parenting. Struggling through creates grief.

Unconventional Living Situations
We are part of a culture where there are non-traditional families. Divorced parents sometimes still live together. There are great gay parents, and great "swinger" parents. Surrogate mothers share homes with families.

Military Family
The National Guard has more people overseas than in any other time in its history. The family dynamic of the military has always been a struggle. This forum is specific to those serving, and those who have returned from the Middle East, and other duty. We also have a two parent military family- where both parents are often put on active combat duty. How does this affect the family?

Crap that Changed Me For the Better
We all have THAT. There's that ONE person who broke your heart so badly you could never love anyone or anything again. But that taught you how to survive anything. Or, that one illness that nearly killed you, and now you're out there helping other people survive? What was that worst thing that happened, that now propels you?

|
 |
Can I ask you about...
This is where you can ask questions relating to the books, and about any methods of working out grief you might want to try. If I can't answer them, I will try to put you touch with a resource for better information. Please, no debates about religion. There are plenty of other authors who enjoy that type of conversation, and my energy is better spent on caring for people, not mind-chess.
